A trailer for season 2 of HBO’s Succession, my favorite show of 2018. Season 2 premieres in August.
Comedy Central has renewed Corporate for a 3rd and final season.
Netflix has ordered another season of Love, Death and Robots.
“BET is joining the streaming wars. The Viacom-owned cable network will be launching a streaming service of its own in the fall, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. Plans for the platform — which will feature Tracy Oliver's bounced around First Wives Club series and Will Packer-produced comedy Peachtree Place as well as content from Tyler Perry — have been in the works for more than six months. BET declined comment as formal deals for the service have not yet been completed. Sources say Viacom is near a deal to bring in an executive to oversee BET+. A price point for the African American-focused service has not yet been determined. Similar to Disney+ and other forthcoming subscription services like WarnerMedia, BET+ will include content from across Viacom's cable brands including MTV, Comedy Central and VH1. BET+ is the latest digital effort to come under Viacom CEO Bob Bakish. As linear ratings for the media behemoth's cable portfolio continue to dwindle, Viacom earlier this year paid $340 million for streaming video upstart Pluto TV. The ad-supported platform already has 16 million monthly users who have access to old episodes of Viacom-owned library content including The Hills and All That.”
“Pamela Anderson will make a cameo alongside her son, Brandon Thomas Lee, on MTV’s reboot of The Hills. Anderson, 51, shot a quick scene with Lee, 23, that was featured in an Instagram teaser for the show.”
Geena Davis will appear in 5 of the 10 episodes in the 3rd season of GLOW. Season 3 will follow the women wrestlers as they take their show to Las Vegas. Davis will play Sandy Devereaux St. Clair, the former showgirl turned entertainment director of the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino.
“After declaring himself ‘so done’ with playing Saturday Night Live‘s Donald Trump, Alec Baldwin is leaving open the possibility of extending his ersatz presidency. In a recent USA Today profile, Baldwin said of playing Trump, ‘I’m so done with that. I can’t imagine I would do it again.’ As he explained, ‘My wife [Hilaria] and I had a son a year ago, and since he was born, I’ve worked minimally because I wanted to be there for my wife and kids…. SNL just crushes my weekends, and now weekends are going to become much more precious to me because that’s time with my kids.’ But in speaking to TVLine on Monday afternoon, Baldwin put his future as FauxTUS in SNL boss Lorne Michaels’ hands. ‘Lorne is my dear friend, and if he wants me to continue, I probably will,’ he said.”
“Epix is now available on Amazon Prime Video Channels. The service gives viewers unlimited access to the complete Epix library, including films and TV from across the four Epix linear channels.”
Andy Cohen talks about Lisa Vanderpump’s departure from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. “Cohen also put to rest rumors that Kathy Hilton would join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as Vanderpump’s replacement. Cohen said he’s had ‘absolutely no conversations about any potential casting news.’ Hilton’s sister Kyle Richards stars on the series, and her sister Kim Richard was an original cast member who still makes appearances on the show.”
Per The Hollywood Reporter, “Sandra Bullock is teaming with Amazon and fellow executive producers John Legend and Akiva Goldsman for a musical dramedy loosely inspired by Bullock's time in college
“The untitled project, which is in development at the streamer, is set in the deep South in 1980s and the oppressive cultural norms that defined the place and time. The show will focus on a darkly offbeat young woman who defies expectations and sets out in search of love, community and, most importantly, an identity of her own.
“The show will feature music and dance and traverse the worlds of drag culture, mental health and the AIDS epidemic while following a group of young outcasts who band together and dare to be themselves, despite facing real danger in doing so.
“The idea sprang from conversations Bullock had with Goldsman (Star Trek: Discovery, Amazon's Dark Towerseries). Goldsman then brought in Marja-Lewis Ryan to help develop the concept; Ryan is now showrunner on Showtime's The L Word: Generation Q and will be a consulting producer on the Amazon project. K.C. Perry (The Originals, TNT pilot Constance) is writing the script.
“Goldsman also enlisted Legend and his Get Lifted Film Co. to help develop the show and curate the music, which will span '80s pop, gospel and even opera. (The two previously worked together on WGN America's Underground.)
“The project will be the first series Bullock has executive produced since the ABC sitcom George Lopez in the mid-2000s. She was also an exec producer of her Netflix movie Bird Box and has produced a number of features in which she has starred.
“Bullock, Goldsman, Legend and Perry will all serve as EPs on the Amazon project along with Get Lifted's Mike Jackson, Greg Lessans of Goldsman's Weed Road and Fortis Films. Perry was repped in the deal by attorney Eric Feig.
“The project will vie to join a lineup of Amazon originals that includes the Emmy winner The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel; Bosch; Carnival Row; Hanna; Homecoming; the recently ordered YA dramas Panic and The Wilds; the Gillian Flynn thriller Utopia; the Greg Daniels comedy Upload; and the upcoming rom-com anthology Modern Love. The streamer is also developing a comedy starring Lisa Kudrow and Greg Kinnear from creators Lee Daniels and Whitney Cummings.”
From TheWrap: “Miley Cyrus is possibly the biggest star to appear on Black Mirror so far. And it’s for that very reason that showrunners Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones didn’t actually think they’d land her for the role of pop star Ashley O on the Season 5 episode Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too.
“‘I think we were sort of amusing ourselves with the idea that Miley would be the perfect person for that role, but with just us sort of torturing each other because we never thought that would happen, obviously, because it’s Miley Cyrus,’ Jones told TheWrap in an interview you can watch above.
“‘And then I don’t know whether we’d said it so many times we sort of thought, well, why don’t we just ask? What’s there to lose, apart from pride?’ Jones continued. ‘And so we sent the script off to her and within a day or two she’d read the script and committed to the project and it was all suddenly happening. So we had no real time to sort of react.’
“Jones told us she’s happy Cyrus agreed to play the On a Roll singer, as she brings a ‘real, raw vulnerability’ to the part that fans may not have been expecting because her usual attitude is ‘so punky.’
“Now, if you’re a fan of Ashley O’s music — both the bubblegum pop songs and the alternative stuff, which are reworked versions of Nine Inch Nails songs, like Head Like a Hole — Cyrus recently hinted full versions of the tracks are ‘coming’.
“But Jones and Brooker couldn’t tell us definitively if and when that music will arrive.
“‘It would be great if we released the songs, but obviously–’ Jones said, with Brooker adding: ‘That’s in the hands of the gods, or record labels.’
“‘Or God, otherwise known as Miley Cyrus,’ Jones said. ‘Yeah, if Miley wanted to release them that would be hilarious because they are great songs, there is no snobbery about them… There is no snobbery about pop music, it’s just that Ashley O wants to create a different identity and a different style of music in the film.’”
Black Mirror Season 5 is now available to stream on Netflix.

“Tiffany is an actress, model, host, dancer and entrepreneur with a long-standing friendship with Lil’ Kim.
“Char is a philanthropist, socialite, former model and entrepreneur.”
I don’t want to throw too much shade here but I thought Dan Cesareo was better than drek like this. Live PD is at least entertaining. This is an affront to society. Guess that’s a lotta shade . . . .
Per Deadline, “WarnerMedia has given a straight-to-series order to Dune: The Sisterhood, a drama from Legendary Television based on Frank Herbert’s classic novel Dune and the popular sci-fi franchise it spawned.
“The series is designed to co-exist with the Dune feature film, currently in production at Warner Bros., as part of Legendary’s comprehensive plans for Dune which also include video games, digital content packages and comic book series.
“Further underlining the symbiotic relationship between the movie and the series, Denis Villeneuve, who is directing and producing the new Dune film, also is set to executive produce the series and direct its pilot episode, with one of the feature’s co-writers, Jon Spaihts set to write the show. It mirrors NBCUniversal ‘s approach to the Purge franchise, which also encompasses a film and TV series franchise.
“Frank Herbert’s Dune portrays a future in which humanity has spread across the galaxy to thousands of worlds, all ruled by the Padishah Emperor, The Imperium.Dune: The Sisterhood explores this universe through the eyes of a mysterious order of women: the Bene Gesserit. Given extraordinary abilities by their mastery of the body and the mind, the Bene Gesserit expertly weave through the feudal politics and intrigue of The Imperium, pursuing plans of their own that will ultimately lead them to the enigmatic planet Arrakis — known to its inhabitants as Dune.
“Villeneuve, who also is a co-writer on the upcoming Dune movie, and Spaihts will executive produce with Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert for the Frank Herbert estate. Kevin J Anderson will co-produce.
“‘The Bene Gesserit have always been fascinating to me. Focusing a series around that powerful order of women seemed not only relevant and inspiring but a dynamic setting for the television series,’ said Villeneuve.
“There have been, to date, twenty books in the Dune series that have build a lawyered universe. The first six novels were written by Frank Herbert and the continuation of the series by Frank’s son, Brian Herbert, along with Kevin J. Anderson.”
